Why..

Why have my children barely eaten anything all day? Why are they refusing even Goldfish and bagels? Why are they screaming every five minutes? Why is a beautiful day out there when I can't get my girls to stop going boneless for more than 5 minutes so we can play in the sunshine? Why didn't I think of giving them Motrin earlier in the day.. are they teething? And last but certainly not least.. why the hell am I getting a migraine on a completely cloudless, gloriously sunshiny day like today?

Am I the only parent of twin toddlers (toddlers in general for that matter) that can't seem to get their child to eat anything lately? I have tried every tactic I can think of and one day they will love something and the next throw it across the room or straight into Ollie's gaping mouth. The food thing is seriously starting to get to me. They used to be such good and happy eaters and now we are fighting just get them to the table... Please.. please tell me mine aren't the only ones out there that have this issue!!! Anyone?

I need a nap.

haha boneless...such a good way to describe it. funny, but good. It makes me think of that scene in hp when lockhart makes harry's arm turn to rubber...
glad we got to get out in that sunshine yesterday! and sorry...no parental advice from this girl :)

Although I cannot comment on the toddler piece, I will say that both of my boys continue to go through phases -- sometimes out-eating the adult members of this household, sometimes barely eating three spoonfuls of any given meal. I'm pretty sure this is normal growth-spurt material. Not that it makes it any less aggravating. I hope tomorrow is better!

Dear Incessant Anonymity,
I remember times when the author of this blog would eat everything and then eat nothing. Yet, she grew up to be the most incredible mother I have ever seen. Incessant Anonymity's Nanny used to say "When they get hungry, they'll eat." Just like I've never seen a cat skeleton in a tree, I've never seen a child starve when food was available. Even at this age, unfortunately, children are learning all the buttons to push.

Your children are not the only ones; this same topic was discussed at my mom's group today. No advice, though. You're doing great! -Megan

Sarah,
From what I remember, this food thing is very typical for this age. It could be a number of different things from teething, to just not being hungry, to the fact that they are growing in indepence and showing their true little natures. I agree with what the others have said. It will get better, then it will get not so much better, and life cycles on. Once you think you have them figured out they change. Hope it is a little better today, but if not don't worry it will be soon. I love you. Mary (Tell them Grammy will be there soon!!!)
